haha i figured. I will say the pavement in the city of Knoxville makes the northern part of I-75 look like the Autobahn

In Ohio, not so much. It’s just been under continuous construction for several years.

But the roman road went through a terrible in-between stage. They were first paved with concrete, which has slowly eroded away, exposing the stone bed material underneath. That's pretty well the equivalent of the interstate getting so bad there's no asphalt any more.
